Our Mission

The Pioneer Food Bank is a non-profit organization that provides nutritious food with dignity to our neighbors in need in the Pioneer School District area through donations and the work of dedicated volunteers. Our mission is to help feed the less fortunate in our area of Mason County. Our goal is to always do so with compassion and respect.

Our food bank is a fully 100% volunteer-based and community partnered organization. We rely upon individuals, businesses, churches, and service clubs in the community for the resources needed to sustain our mission.

Our History

Pioneer Food Bank has been a Pioneer Community run food bank since 2014. Prior to that time it was run by Mason Matters, AmeriCorps volunteers and Pioneer Community members.

What We Do

Pioneer Food Bank offers healthy fresh and packaged food and beverages, along with personal hygiene products that have been donated from local businesses and farms, food drives and individuals.

Food is also received through other non-profit organizations such as the Emergency Food Assistance Program (EAFP).  Additional meats, eggs and bulk staples are purchased with donated funds and grants from Sierra Pacific Foundation, Green Diamond and various service clubs. We also receive food from Community Action Council (a government run program).

No one is turned away – all are cared for. We provide assistance to all people without regard to religious preference, race, national origin, age, sex, marital status, or disability, and all services are given at no charge or obligation.

Special Recognition

Pioneer Food Bank wants to thank Bridge Community Church for supporting us as our Anchor Partner allowing us to operate under their 501(c)(3) status, providing bookkeeping services with separate accounting for the church and the food bank, and issuing annual donation receipts.
